A witness claimed to have heard shots and shortly afterwards saw two individuals running along Rua Maria Matos towards Rua Gil Vicente, in Lavradio, Barreiro. One of them, who had his hand on his chest, fell to the ground, and the other asked him to call for help.
The description is made by the PSP and concerns an incident that occurred on the night of Monday, October 13th, at 10:50 pm. A man, aged between 18 and 22, was shot “in the upper chest, relatively close to the neck”, and ended up dying.
“The Public Security Police, through police officers from the Barreiro PSP Police Station of the Barreiro Police Division of the Setúbal District Command, went to the scene, having discovered an individual of African appearance lying on the ground, in a prone position (belly down)”, says a statement from the Setúbal District Command. “Next to him was a person/witness, who immediately reported that he had already activated emergency services”, he adds.
The South and Southeast Fire Departments were the first to arrive, at 11pm, and began providing first aid to the victim. Nine minutes later, according to the statement, the Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER) from Barreiro arrived, which assisted the victim, confirming the death at 11:12 pm.
The Judiciary Police were called and arrived at the scene, taking over the investigation into this homicide.
